…the Spring Book Soiree at Garden Fever Nursery in Portland Oregon that is. This cool urban (and very hip) nursery is welcoming the growing season with an open house event this coming Sunday from 1-4pm. Four regional authors, myself included, will be presenting readings and talking about their work.
The schedule is as follows:
1′ish – Tom Fischer, editor-in-chief at Timber Press will be discussing that publisher’s new titles for 2010. Check out Tom’s new website and blog at Overplanted, it’s wonderful.
2′ish – Plantsman extraordinaire and co-owner of Xera plants, Paul Bonine, author of Black Plants, will lure us to the dark side of the garden. We’re talking color palette not poison here.
2:45′ish – I’m up! (I’m a little nervous about appearing in such illustrious company) I’ll be talking about my latest two books, Growing Your Own Vegetables and Canning & Preserving Your Own Harvest. I’ve also got some advice for gardeners heading into the “busy season.”
the event will close with Roger Gossler, of Gossler Farms (one of the West’s most respected nurseries) talking about his new book The Gossler Guide to the Best Hardy Shrubs.
I do love a road trip and this one should be especially fun as my husband gets to tag along (and Portland is known for their amazing food!) Husband has never heard me speak…well actually he’s heard plenty, but you know what I mean. I’ve promised him VooDoo Donuts if he behaves himself and doesn’t heckle me from the back of the room.
