Freddy Langley knows good food!
Matt, Leda and Freddy Langley are some of the hardest working farmers I know! And they have the bounty and abundance to show for it. Stop by their farm this coming Saturday, August 1st for a day of sunshine, music and some serious farm style foodie fun. I’ll be signing copies of my latest books, Growing Your Own Vegetables and Canning & Preserving Your Own Harvest, and talking plants, food and planning your winter vegetable garden!
Langley Fine Gardens Farm Tour
Saturday, August 1st; 10am-5pm
10012 SW 268th st. Dockton – Vashon, Island
Matt & Leda and their crew grow 30+ varieties of heirloom tomatoes, their own custom salad mix with edible flowers, zucchetto rampicante - a delicious, flavorful (!) climbing Italian zucchini, beans, 4 colors of carrots, 15 varieties of squashes and pumpkins, 15 varieties of colorful potatoes and much more.
I’ve known Matt and Leda for 15 years. Back when they ran a small landscaping and design service in the Seattle area they were some of my earliest and most loyal customers at Fremont Gardens. Today, their 5 acre farm on Vashon Island, just outside Seattle, in is production 365 days of the year. They sell plants and produce at several regional farmer’s markets as well as stock a generous help-yourself farmstand on their property. As if that weren’t enough! Langley Fine Gardens is a wholesale grower of the highest caliber providing select NW nurseries with organically grown vegetable starts and hard-to-find heirloom cottage flowers.
I wrote the following acknowledgment in my book, Growing Your Own Vegetables:
Thank you to Matt and Leda Langley of Langley Fine Gardens on Vashon Island for their ardent devotion to providing an amazingly varied (and delicious) list of organic vegetable starts for home growers. From ‘Green Zebra’ tomatoes to tiny alpine strawberries and ‘Cavolo Nero’ kale, my plot – and my plate – is richer for their efforts and their expertise.
Bring a picnic or purchase lunch on site from SheFidgets Catering and I hope to see you down on the farm this weekend.

Hi
Kathy at Thriftway told me yesterday your tomato plants would be available for purchase in two weeks.
My question is are they are they ready now if I pick them up myself?
And, if so, where are you located? I have a small greenhouse where they
can be protected.
Could you leave me a message at 463.5099 ? Not sure this web site is current.
Hi Melissa,
I’m afraid you won’t reach Langley Fine Gardens through my website! But I encourage you to seek out their tomatoes – I do every year! Good luck and keep those plants snug in a greenhouse until nighttime temps stay about 50*!
