If you get a chance to pick up the current issue of MaryJanes Farm magazine – it’s the “Glamping issue” – you know, Glamorous Camping! Hortus Miscellaneous gets some ink on page 69! On my visit to the Farm last September I brought copies of Hortus as a thank you for the wonderful hospitality I received; small recompense for the magical night I spent under the stars. You can read about my visit here.

Granted, these are pretty crude scans, all the more reason for you to grab a copy of your own and read the whole thing. There are some great stories about vintage trailers, rhubarb and lots of gardening projects. I especially love the ad for MaryJane’s own limited edition teardrop trailer. Pure Farmgirl Fantasy!
MaryJane's limited edition teardrop trailer
I briefly owned a tiny teardrop of my own which appeared in the Fremont Gardens display garden we built for the 2003 Northwest Flower & Garden show. What a cutie and so much fun to play with. Alas, we had to sell it to help pay for the garden but trust me, this is one clubhouse you’re gonna want.
Here are some picture of my sweet teardrop. Go here for the whole show garden story!

Congrats! I have been reading Hortus this past week, just gobbling it up. Got it from the library but will have to buy it, it’s great! Hey, I remember that show garden! I was 6 mo. pregnant at the time, and I recall that cute little trailer. Sorry you had to part with it (and the nursery).
Ah Karen,
But now I have my ‘lil loafer!!! A 1961 aluminum sided garden folly that anchors the southwest corner of my back garden. We bought it a few years ago to celebrate our “silver” anniversary – aluminum is more affordable that silver! We have yet to “play house” and finish the inside but I love, love, love working my “Aluminum Garden” around the outside. I’ve planted lots of cleanly green and white variegated plants that are so hard to place in most situations as they stand out so glaringly. Here they mingle with silver leafed plants, and concrete pillows…reminding me of good times and wonderful friends and a great adventure. Maybe it’s time to write a trailer garden post?!?
